RIDERS EXTEND STANDOUT LEFT TACKLE PAYTON COLLINS

The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American offensive lineman Payton Collins to a one-year contract extension.
Collins (6’7-301) joined the Roughriders in May 2025 and earned the starting left tackle position out of training camp as a rookie. He has since started all 29 regular-season games he has played over two seasons (1,826 snaps) along with the Western Final and 112th Grey Cup.
Collins is putting together a standout 2026 season. His work up front has helped Trevor Harris lead the league with 5,370 passing yards, while his power in the run game has helped Tommy Stevens set franchise and league records for rushing touchdowns and rushing touchdowns by a quarterback, respectively, with 17. He was named the Roughriders’ Most Outstanding Rookie in 2025 and is a Grey Cup Champion.
Collins spent six collegiate seasons (2019–2024) at Eastern Kentucky, setting a new program record by starting 56 consecutive games beginning in 2020. As a senior in 2024, he helped lead an offence that rushed for 2,422 yards, the third-highest total in the conference, and produced 4,522 yards of total offence and 36 touchdowns. For his outstanding performance, Collins earned All-American and All-Conference honours, as well as an invitation to the Hula Bowl All-Star Game. It was his second All-American nod, having first received the distinction in 2022.
A native of Columbus, Ohio, Collins is a four-time All-Conference selection (2021–24). He was named the United Athletic Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2024 by Phil Steele, and the Atlantic Sun Conference Offensive Lineman of the Year.
