The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American defensive backs Jy Gilmore and Lemondre Joe.

Gilmore (5’9-190) spent 2025 collegiate season at Georgia Tech registering 35 tackles, including three for a loss, one sack and three pass deflections over nine games played. On Oct. 18, 2025, Gilmore was named the ACC Defensive Back of the Week after recording 11 tackles (two for a loss), a sack and two pass deflections against a Duke team that finished the season as the conference champion. He also was voted a team captain in 2025, despite it being his first and only season with Yellow Jackets.

He spent the 2024 season with Georgia State, suiting up for 12 games as Panther. He earned 53 defensive tackles, including two tackles for loss, two interceptions and three pass deflections. Before transferring to Georgia State, the Florida-born Gilmore attended Tennessee Tech from 2020 to 2023. In 30 games, he recorded 115 tackles, six tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions, one forced fumble and 18 pass deflections. As a freshman, he scored on a 39-yard punt return.

Joe (5’10-180) spent his senior collegiate season at Colorado State in 2025, starting all 12 games for the Rams. He recorded 56 tackles, five tackles for a loss, a team-high four sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 13 pass deflections. Following his collegiate career, Joe was invited to Philadelphia Eagles’ rookie mini camp in 2026.

The Florida native spent his first four collegiate seasons (2021-24) at Missouri State, suiting up for 35 games and starting in 24. He registered 90 tackles, three tackles for a loss, seven interceptions and 23 pass deflections with the Bears.

In a corresponding move, the Roughriders have released quarterback Eddie Lee Marburger and running back Star Thomas.
