1. B.C., PART 3

The Roughriders and Lions are to meet in the post-season for the third consecutive season. At Mosaic Stadium, Saskatchewan defeated B.C. in the 2024 Western Semi-Final (28-19) and the 2025 Western Final (21-18). In the latter game, Trevor Harris threw a game-winning, three-yard touchdown pass to Tommy Nield with 11 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. Saskatchewan subsequently won the fifth Grey Cup championship in franchise history.

2. GROUND WAR

Saturday’s game will feature the CFL’s top two touchdown producers in 2026. Lions running back Zander Horvath led the loop with 21 majors (18 runs, three receptions). He was two TDs shy of tying Milt Stegall’s league record, set in 2002. Stevens, meanwhile, set a CFL standard for touchdown runs in a season by a quarterback (17). As well, he set a Roughriders record for TD runs in a season, bettering George Reed’s 1968 mark of 16. Between them, Horvath and Stevens scored 35 of their teams’ 44 rushing TDs during the regular season. Not to be overlooked are A.J. Ouellette (Saskatchewan) and James Butler (B.C.), who between them have five 1,000-yard rushing seasons as CFLers.

3. PIVOTAL MATCHUP

Saturday’s quarterbacking matchup showcases two passers — Saskatchewan’s Trevor Harris and B.C.’s Nathan Rourke — who are likely destined for the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. Last season, Rourke was named the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player and Most Outstanding Canadian. The final laurels belonged to Harris, however, who was named the Grey Cup MVP. Harris led the league in completions (431), attempts (615) and passing yards (5,370) during the regular season. Rourke, who missed four starts with a shoulder injury, threw for 4,614 yards and 24 scores. Both QBs are blessed with first-rate receiving corps. Enjoy the show.
